Pool resurfacing cost calculator
Resurfacing is priced by the interior surface, floor plus walls, not just the water’s surface. Enter your pool size and depths.
How we estimate it
Interior area = length x width + 2 x (length + width) x average depth. We multiply by Angi's 2026 finish rates (repainting $1,500, replastering $5,500, aggregate $6,500 and tile $30,000 per 1,000 sq ft) and add $425 to $475 for draining, refilling and cleaning. Angi's 2026 national average for resurfacing is $11,000, with most people paying $6,000 to $15,000.
Uncertainty to know about: Angi's own size table looks like it uses the water's surface area, which gives lower totals than our interior-area method. Real quotes often also include tile line work, coping repair and crack repair, so treat our figure as the finish only.
How long finishes last
Angi puts plaster at about 10 years and aggregate at 20 or more, while paint needs redoing every 2 to 7 years. Over 20 years, a pricier aggregate finish can cost less than two plaster jobs.
Common questions
How often does a pool need resurfacing?
HomeGuide says concrete pools need it every 10 to 15 years. Plaster tends to wear sooner than aggregate.
Can fiberglass pools be resurfaced?
Yes, with a gelcoat refinish, but it is a different process. These rates are for concrete pools.
